Use chocolate, biscuits, butter and sugar to make one of the best-loved home-made treats, with no cooking - chocolate salami! Everyone has their version: we've chosen a recipe without eggs, flavoured with a drop of rum, but you'll find many other delicious varieties, including with coffee, nougat or exotic fruits. Perfect at teatime, for a birthday party or simply after dinner, chocolate salami is always an irresistible temptation for young and old!
To make the chocolate salami, first take the ingredients out of the fridge so they come to room temperature. Chop the chocolate, melt in a double saucepan or in the microwave and then allow to cool. Place the Virgilio butter and sugar in a separate bowl and beat using an electric mixer. When the butter is creamy, drizzle in the rum and keep mixing.
Now add the chocolate followed by the cocoa powder, continuing to mix to obtain an even mixture. Crumble the biscuits using your hands and add to the chocolate mixture, using a spatula to combine and coat.
Turn the mixture out onto a sheet of greaseproof paper, using your hands to shape into a cylinder. Wrap the cylinder in the paper, twisting the ends to seal. Place the roll in the fridge and leave to firm for at least 2-3 hours. After this, remove the paper and dust with icing sugar before serving.
Buon appetito!
